Mindset And Marketing – a Question and My Response

About a month ago, someone commented on one of my videos about one of my businesses. The sort of question they asked reflects where their head is at. Here’s the story:

Question/Comment:
i SORRY I COULDNT HEAR THAT GOOD, IS IT A GOOD BUSINESS TO INVAST IN BECAUSE, I JUS GOT LAID OFF AND HAVE 4 KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF FOUR, I CAN’T WASTE ANY MONEY

My Answer:
Your comment reflects your mindset. Here’s the short of it – yes, Shaklee is an excellent company – one of my friends built her business over 2.5 years in the early 80s and did very little since then to maintain it – and she still averages $85K to over 100K a year. That may not seem like a lot compared to other opportunities promising 30-100K a month, but this is a company that’s been around for over 50 years with seriously dedicated users of their products. They have an impeccable business and environmental record as well. And all during that time – including the current depression we’re in, her business remains steady.

That said, you are asking the wrong question. Remember, only a fool would say their program or product is crap. But you have to see past all the hype and ‘marketing’ and understand what’s really going on here.

A savvy marketer who knows what they’re doing will make money with anything they promote.

I’m tired of seeing too many people spend their hard earned money and waste their time looking for an easy fix or get-rich-quick solution because that rarely works – well, actually, it does – for the person selling them.

I would suggest you educate yourself first before spending any money on a business.

It took me years to understand how these businesses work – it’s about making yourself a better you – building value in yourself – learning new skills. . . Building relationships with others that are like you. . . and building a LIST – yes… the list of contacts is how those ‘big marketers’ make their money. But they worked hard to build that list back when they were a ‘nobody’ and weren’t making much money at it.

The overnight successes you may hear about didn’t really happen overnight.

It’s like how bamboo grows…. Years it lays beneath the surface where no one sees it… but one day, it breaks ground and from then on it grows inches every day.

I would recommend getting on my free marketing newsletter to start educating yourself on how to do this the correct way.
