Ok, a while ago – probably a year, I stumbled across this site, Psychotactics. Signed up for their email newsletter, and with good intentions, was going to follow along and see what they offered. Well, I broke their main rule, or should I say, strong recommendation. That being to not keep looking for more stuff to get into, but instead, dive into this particular program and focus on it (those selfish twits, lol). Obviously, that would be the case for as long as I got value from their offering. Well, here’s the cut and paste info block they are asking to pass along.

I am only doing this because I signed up for it myself with intention to pay attention this time as I think they have something really valuable to offer both us IM biz builders as well as offline businesses, new or established alike. >>>>

I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Psychotactics.com. I’ve enjoyed their website and have found it to have very useful business/marketing information.

Just the other day, I got an invitation that said Psychotactics was giving away a workshop they sell for $2500. And, that they are doing a test and giving a limited number of copies away absolutely FREE…No charge. This workshop, the Brain Alchemy Masterclass, explains why structure—not marketing—is critical to growing a business effectively.

A free giveaway like this would normally have a catch of some sort, but this one (strangely) doesn’t. I’ve made sure I’ve signed up to their waiting list, so that I can get my copy of these goodies soon. You should check it out, and if you find it useful, you should get on the waiting list before it’s filled.

I’m sending you this note because I thought this workshop could help you. You should check it out and judge for yourself.
Here’s the link: http://www.psychotactics.com/free-goodies

Terry Carter

P.S. I read somewhere on the page that there’s a deadline for this free offer, so have a look and decide.

Two Approaches To Wealth Creation

This is part 2 that discusses what sets the Super Rich apart from your average Joe Millionaire.

The 7 Money Rules are principally derived from studying billionaires and those on the fast track to becoming super-rich. They are applicable to anyone interested in becoming significantly wealthier.

Here’s some primary differences in one’s mindset that sets the super rich apart from the average millionaire.

Rule: COMMITMENT

Professional – seeks work/life balance, where money is only part of the equation

Super-Rich – creating wealth is the top priority and primary motivation

Rule: SELF-INTEREST

Professional – Looking to make everyone “happy” or get a fair deal

Super-Rich – Making sure they are winners, strategically or financially, in every meaningful situation

Rule: LINE of MONEY

Professional – Believe if they do what they love, the money will follow

Super-Rich - Pursue only those activities that have significant probability of generating above-average financial returns

Rule: CONNECTIONS

Professional – Network with a lot of people for social, cultural and business purposes

Super-Rich - Build strong relationships with a handful of strategically valuable people

Rule: PAYOUTS

Professional – Create rapport and look to help others

Super-Rich – Ensure each party is duly compensated for his or her contribution

Rule: FAILURE

Professional – Failure is a major obstacle that can cause setbacks, reassessments and new directions

Super-Rich – Failure is a learning experience and a motivator

Rule: CENTERED

Professional – Concentrate on overcoming weaknesses and becoming a well-rounded person

Super-Rich – Concentrate on their strengths and delegate (outsource) everything else

Are you starting to see a pattern here?

The fluffy new-age mentality and many internet marketers who come across as likable people who want to be everybody’s buddy fit into the Joe Millionaire catagory (and so does the majority of middle management america) while Mr. Burns from the Simpsons seems to reflect the typical example of the Super-Rich profile.

Now I’ve seen people in our industry that as they have become more and more successful, begin to embody more of the Super-Rich mentality – most likely, they embraced these approaches first which is what propelled them to the next level.

The last two rules – failure and centering – I think many leaders in the IM industry (and myself) actually teach and lean more towards the super-rich approach – learning from one’s failures and concentrating on what you’re good at while outsourcing everything else.

Maybe that glass ceiling for most people exists because it’s designed that way. The super-rich don’t want too much company. They are often greedy power mongers (and mingers, lol) at the core and their hubris nature can’t allow the minions of the world to truly compete with them, rather they are merely tools and pawns to be used to maintain their elevated wealth status.

Seems to me like if money is the primary goal, then at the end of the day, money will be all that you have. Which sounds better to you?

PDF link to Comparison Table:

This information was gathered from an advertisement for Forbes Family Trust. In it they say the key to eXtreme financial success for many, is their ability to systematically implement the Money Rules.

They include a technique of “running the numbers.” An informed decision cannont be made until there’s a determination of the costs and returns. The process of value determination is another tool they use. As it’s essential to appropriately compensate people for their contributions, there has to be a systematic way to ascertain the value they provide.

7 Money Rules of the Super Rich

This is Part 1 of a two part report on Rules of Wealth Creation for those interested in becoming significantly wealthier derived from studying billionaires.

In Part 2 I will cover the difference in approaches to wealth creation of the super-rich and the average middle-class millionaire.

#1 You Commit Yourself To Extreme Wealth

The super-rich have a clear sense that money is THE main objective. They prioritize and concentrate on activities that have the highest potential return and assign a lower priority to everything else.

#2 You Engage In Enlightened Self-Interest

The super-rich are focused on reaching their goals and don’t waver or allow themselves to be derailed or distracted by the chance for group happiness or pleas for fairness. At the same time, they regularly do the advance work needed to create an advantage or exploit a weakness in an opponent.

#3 You Put Yourself in the Line of Money

Since most skills and abilities are portable, the super-rich primarily concentrate their skills and talents in those situations that offer the highest returns. They pursue the projects and initiatives that have the highest potential for outsized returns, now and in the future.

#4 You Pay Everyone Involved

The super-rich generally never assume people are willing to work for free – working for personal satisfaction or fulfillment – and therefore they reward handsomely to cultivate loyalty and specific behaviors in their associates and business partners. The key is to identify the value people provide and reward them accordingly.

#5 You Network For Profit and Results

The super-rich practice nodal networking. Nodal networking is where a person has a few very powerful, influential, highly targeted, professional relationships with people who in turn have an array of similar relationships of their own. Therefore they develop and maintain a small network of relationships that lead to power and influence. (The exclusive Big Boys Club).

#6 You Use Your Failures to Improve and Refocus

Failure is inevitable, so it’s not about avoiding it. Most super-rich carefully analyze their failures and do all they can to prevent repeating them.

#7 You Remain Highly Centered

The super-rich realize that they do a few things very well and they know what those skills are. This insight allows them to align their skills and talents in directions that translate into maximum personal wealth creation.

After reading through these rules, you might think that it requires a sociopathic personality to pull this off. Someone who’s a bit ruthless and cutthroat. Perhaps that is true to some degree and could be another barrier that keeps most of us from attaining vast wealth. We simply don’t have the mind or heart for it.

I forgot to add this bit of pondering my mind did on the lack of honesty and authenticity I see with so many marketers that appear to have arrived and are now considered successful, yet fail to share what it was that truly got them to rise above the fold and be seen by others as a success story.

Here goes:

Ever notice how whenever someone comes out with a new SECRET technique – whether they’re charging you for it or giving it away for free, that when YOU go to try it, it almost always bombs? Costing you time and money in the process too.

Seems like the technique worked for them in the past tense, now that it no longer produces, they can let the kitty out of the sack and share their ‘SECRET‘ with the world. Awww, how generous of ya. I guess that means you a good guy a me now follow you and give you money, okeedokie?

I think what the Secret Technique really is, is it’s just a leveraging tool for creating higher value for the person sharing it. It’s like,” Look – I know what I’m doing. I made bank on this little trick.” (Now, because it was a one time, one trick pony) I share it with everybody announcing my greatness to the world and by the way won’t you please pay attention to me? Me, a person who is successful and savvy. You’ll follow me now? Really? Great! Now check out all these offers I have to sell you! Ah yes, mo’money mo’money mo’money.

Seriously, think about it. If you fall upon a technique or manufacture one with some co-conspirators, you can now show off your paypal transactions and brag about your growing bank account that happened, ‘literally overnight while I was asleep‘. This will suddenly give you street cred and people will think you are on to something big. They buy in for however you package it. Your real money is now made on selling this ‘not-so-secret-anymore technique’ to the masses as well as building a HUGE email marketing list that a percentage will keep buying the next greatest thing you offer to them. Brilliant.

HOW THEY REALLY MAKE ALL THAT MONEY ONLINE

This is something that I believe needs to be brought up. I’m tired of seeing so much failure experienced by so many coupled with too much brewhaha and smoke and mirrors by the few who ARE making it.

It seems to me like there is a huge BRIDGE missing in the whole rags to riches stories that are out here in IM Land. Don’t you agree?

I mean, everybody I know (and plenty I don’t) who are ALREADY successful or at least BS-ing their success never seem to mention or acknowledge how or what it was that finally brought them up from the depths of homogenous moneyless amateurism to the sudden ability to make money on command. You know, where they already seem to have made it, claim to tell you how easy it is and how they can (for a price) show you how to do it too?

Funny thing is, every time you buy into one of these things, if you stop to pay attention, you’ll realize that the HOW they are making their money is by selling their story and maybe some techniques and tools along with it. That is NOT the same thing as how THEY made their first money.

Often, it’s claimed that it was a mental shift – a Mindset Change – if I may take liberty there. Like, “the day I decided to be a leader, I was a leader.” Seriously? Come on. I wasn’t born yesterday.

Ok, I’m not going to get all negative and Devon Downer on ya. I would like to see less hiding behind marketing hoopla and more authenticity. My two cents worth. Keep in mind that none of this will still not guarantee your success :

Luck

Persistance

Consistency

Motivation and Passion

Modeling the Right mentors

Money for tools, advertising, etc

I think advice like pretending to be successful is ingenuous and foolish. Better hope you make it before they peak behind the curtain. Not a good way to present yourself to the world.

By far the most annoying thing I find is those people who hook you with a product that may or may not be good and then you find them promoting a new different affiliate offer to you everyday till you unsubscribe. My god, if you multiply that by however many ‘guru’s email lists you subscribe to, you’ll be on the Information Overload Express Train to Crazy Town without a nickel to your name because you foolishly spent every cent on all these conflicting next best gotta-have things.

Phew! Ok, a bit discombobulated rant there but I’m sure I speak for the 1000s of frustrated marketers who are trying to figure out the missing link that separates the winners from everybody else.

If you ARE one of the success stories, why not take this as an opportunity to be a new STAND OUT guy or gal who tells it like it REALLY IS. Might make even more money while you are at it.

Has Clutter Stopped You In Your Tracks?

Ok, I will admit I have been challenged by clutter in my environment, which as you may realize, will adversely affect your head. Now I’m not so bad that I’d be worthy of that Horders show – not by a long shot. That’s a symptom of a serious psychological disorder…. Anyway,

Cluttered space = cluttered mind.

You could replace the word “clutter” with fragmented, scattered, distracted, over extended, or what have you.

Thanks to my best friend casually mentioning a book he dug out of his, uh, pile of stuff, I ran and got a copy of this book that after reading, realized that it is a MUST READ for self-proclaimed pac-rats. Honestly, I can’t think of too many people who wouldn’t benefit from this book in some part of their life.

Without cluttering up this post with any more talk, here’s the book I HIGHLY RECOMMEND>>>http://amzn.to/CluttersLastStand

Just a suggestion- I recommend the 2005 updated copy over the 1984 version.

Don’t forget – if you can’t swing $10 bucks for a book, there’s always your friendly neighborhood. . .

LIBRARY – a place with a plethora of knowledge and resources that if you pay taxes, you ALREADY pay for

Ok, so maybe that’s an exaggeration. He was actually offering advice to his son regarding his son’s music career, but it certainly can apply to our industry as well.

You’ve heard it so many times – one of the perks to running a network marketing business is the ability to work with just those you WANT to work with. However, that can tend to just be a catch phrase/sales pitch for those starting out or pushing to massively grow their current biz, who will go after anyone with a pulse who’s willing and able to give it a go in hopes they’ll be the next diamond in the rough. This goes against the whole idea of being selective in who you do business with and who you bring into your circle as a fellow partner or team member.

So, What about Willie’s advice for succeeding in the music [sub. Internet Marketing] business?

Surround yourself with family and friends and people that you trust and care about. Well, that goes against what us enlightened marketers tout – that being DON’T go after your ‘warm – usually HIGHLY UNTARGETED’ market. But it’s the second part of what he said that I thought was a keen insight:

Know yourself so that you can know other people. Know who you are, so when you’re seeing other people, you’re seeing from your own eyes. That allows you to really see who they are.

So there you have it. Know yourself first.Which, if you’ve been in this industry for any length of time, you probably have been on the track of personal growth and development for a while.

If your space is cluttered, often it’s indicative that you’ve got too much on your plate.

Sure, some of us will pull the ADD/ADHD card and use that excuse, but hey, that’s not a good reason to avoid the issue.

If your work environment is looking more like a landfill than a model feng shui space, then likely your business is suffering financially as well.

Take a moment and check in.

Are you being realistic with your time?

Is your to-do list prioritized in order of importance?

Keeping your physical space neat and tidy is not only pleasing to the eye, but it helps create an environment that is conducive to creativity and productivity.

If you’re like me, you battle with clutter in the workplace and home more than you’d care to admit.

Get help with this – trust me – especially you pac-rats. Without an outside objective opinion, you’ll find a reason to hold onto every last bit of paper.

Best tip I read is to first clear EVERYTHING off first, and then add back just what’s necessary.

I recently came across an article online that had some of these tips – you can read the full post here:

Home Office Organization

IT’s about managing your ENERGY, not your TIME.

Time management is so 20th Century

Happy 2011!

Seems like an opportune time to bring up managing your life skills, what with the tradition of New Year’s resolutions that people rarely keep.

I came across an article by Sandy Klim in AAA magazine last month that I want to repost here as I found it to be a good illustration of how to plan one’s day in such a way that will give you a sense of priorities and meaningful accomplishments all without stressing out.

It goes something like this:

To plan your day, imagine a large empty pickle jar.

Take three or four large rocks and add them to the jar.

Now take a small handful of pebbles and toss them in, jiggling it a bit to make them fit.

Next, add a handful of sand.

Now fill the remaining space in the jar with water.

There’s a lot of stuff in your jar. But it’s not just the objects, it’s the order and volume of each item. If you were to put the water and sand in first, and then your pebbles, very few of the large rockes would fit. Or if you tried to just put in 10 large rocks, they’d break the jar.

Such is the case with planning your day. Identify three or four high priority items that must get done (the rocks), plus a number of smaller, lower priority tasks such as emails, follow-ups, etc. (the pebbles), as well as everyday routine stuff (the sand). And remember that your jar should contain room for family and personal time (the water).

I will end this by saying, the new paradigm (which will be surpassed by yet another new revelation) is that you can’t manage your time, but rather you should manage your energy.

We all are born with unlimited potential which is why we can do ANYTHING . . . but we have to realize that we can’t do EVERYTHING. If you don’t discover your purpose, you will spend your life doing the wrong things.

It’s about believing in your potential, recognizing your uniqueness – your talents, your history, your resources, and the desire that is in your heart that speaks to you and sets you on fire. For some lucky people, they identify their purpose at a young age, while others take a lifetime to realize their purpose.

Without knowing your purpose, you end up being a jack-of-all-trades, master of none instead of a jack-of-FEW-trades, who focuses on one.

Nobody ever reached their potential by scattering themselves in 20 different directions. Hear that ADDers? Multiple Hat Wearers?

Reaching your potential requires FOCUS. That’s why it’s important to know your purpose. Then you decide what you are willing to do to live it and what you are willing to give up.

IF you want to do great things, you better prepare to sacrifice much. Success is not a destination, but a journey of continued growth and improvement.

Here’s where this post’s inspiration came from – Road Map For Success.
