Your comment reflects your mindset. Here&#8217;s the short of it &#8211; yes, Shaklee is an excellent company &#8211; one of my friends built her business over 2.5 years in the early 80s and did very little since then to maintain it &#8211; and she still averages $85K to over 100K a year. That may not seem like a lot compared to other opportunities promising 30-100K a month, but this is a company that&#8217;s been around for over 50 years with seriously dedicated users of their products. They have an impeccable business and environmental record as well. And all during that time &#8211; including the current depression we&#8217;re in, her business remains steady.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>That said, you are asking the wrong question. Remember, only a fool would say their program or product is crap. But you have to see past all the hype and &#8216;marketing&#8217; and understand what&#8217;s really going on here.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>A savvy marketer who knows what they&#8217;re doing will make money with anything they promote.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>I&#8217;m tired of seeing too many people spend their hard earned money and waste their time looking for an easy fix or get-rich-quick solution because that rarely works &#8211; well, actually, it does &#8211; for the person selling them. </strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>I would suggest you educate yourself first before spending any money on a business.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>It took me years to understand how these businesses work &#8211; it&#8217;s about making yourself a better you &#8211; building value in yourself &#8211; learning new skills. . . Building relationships with others that are like you. . . and building a LIST &#8211; yes&#8230; the list of contacts is how those &#8216;big marketers&#8217; make their money. But they worked hard to build that list back when they were a &#8216;nobody&#8217; and weren&#8217;t making much money at it.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>The overnight successes you may hear about didn&#8217;t really happen overnight.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>It&#8217;s like how bamboo grows&#8230;. Years it lays beneath the surface where no one sees it&#8230; but one day, it breaks ground and from then on it grows inches every day.</strong></span></p>

The idea of starting a business is alluring to so many people.  There is the vision of wealth, providing opportunities and security.  Also there is pride and purpose- knowing what you’re doing is for you and your family.  And of course, one of the most appealing reasons is the freedom of being able to work from home and choose your own hours.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
These visions are wonderful and, in many cases, attainable.  In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce, there are over 17.6 million businesses with one or more owners but no paid employees.<br />
So why are so many aspiring entrepreneurs left on the sidelines?</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">It turns out, there are three reasons. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> One, as you can imagine, is good old fashioned fear.  Fear of the unknown.  Fear of failure.  Believe it or not, fear of success. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The second reason is a lack of knowledge.  “Where do I start?” “I don’t have enough resources.”  “I don’t know anything about marketing.” </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">And the third reason, which I will be discussing in this article, is about the business idea, itself.</span></p>

</span></p>
<h2><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Business Idea Paralysis</strong></span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">What is business idea paralysis?  Quite simply, it’s a condition that prevents people from starting a business because they get held back in the idea generation stage.  Basically, they are stuck in neutral.  Below are the two most common reasons why:<br />
</span></p>
<h3><span style="color: #000000;">The Pet Rock Syndrome</span></h3>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">In 1975 a gentleman named Gary Dahl created a product called the pet rock.  Many of you have probably heard of it.  In case you haven’t, it was nothing more than a rock set in a box on some straw.  Within 6 months, Dahl had sold over 5 million of these pet rocks for $3.95 each.  It cost him less than 30 cents to produce the rock.  So, when you do some basic number crunching, he made over 15 million dollars in just 6 months &#8211; selling rocks.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
What does this have to do with anything?  Well, quite a bit actually.  Imagine how much your life would change if you could sell something as simple as a rock and become a multi-millionaire in just 6 months.  Pretty tantalizing isn’t it?  Unfortunately, it has tantalized people so much that they never end up starting a business.  They only end up chasing their own “pet rock” gimmicks that never catch on.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
The reason is simple.  Some people just haven’t been blessed by the idea gods.  The gods have failed to spring upon them the multi-million dollar idea that they believe they need.    No matter how hard they try to come up with the next pet rock, they can’t.  If you don’t believe me, take a look at how many get-rich-quick schemes are being sold today.  If people can’t think of the next great idea, then they will buy the idea from someone else.  Well, guess what?  It doesn’t work.  Mr. Dahl was an aberration.  He hit the winning lottery ticket.  Chances are you won’t.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
After you have wiped the pet rock syndrome from your head, beware of the next, equally as paralyzing syndrome that can keep you from getting to business with real, tangible ideas.<br />
</span></p>
<h2><span style="color: #000000;">Peace, Love and Happiness Syndrome</span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">On the other end of the spectrum we have the peace, love and happiness camp.  This group is a little more realistic in their pursuit of a business idea.  Their problem, however, is that they love too many business ideas.  In fact, they love them so much that they can’t decide on the best one.  They become paralyzed by trying to figure out which idea is best, and ultimately, never try any of them.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
These types of people, I have found, are extremely visionary.  They love to explore all of the different business angles and long term visions.  The problem is they don’t take action because their heads are filled with amazing ideas and forecasts for success.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
If you fall into this camp, I have bit of advice.  Stop it!  You need to choose an idea and then let your mind run wild within the boundaries of that idea.<br />
</span></p>
<h2><span style="color: #000000;">How Do You Find the Right Business Idea?</span></h2>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">There are two schools of thought on how to come up with the right business idea.  I’ll discuss them below:<br />
</span></p>
<h3><span style="color: #000000;">The Traditional Approach</span></h3>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The traditional theory for finding the right business idea states that you should find a need and fill it.  In other words, you need to pay attention to your surroundings and look to see where there might be an opportunity to offer a new product or service that people may need.  Once you do, that’s what you will build your business around.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
There is no question that this method of generating business ideas work.  It has led to many great inventions and innovations over the years.   It is for this reason that pharmaceutical companies make billions of dollars.  They develop new drugs to satisfy a need, such as a heart condition.  You can also see the traditional approach at play with today’s green technologies.  New, “green” businesses are trying to fill the need for clean, renewable energy.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
There is one problem with this method, however.  It can be quite expensive and time consuming.  First, you have to develop the product or service.  This includes spending a lot of time and money on market research and sampling.  Second, you have to spend a lot of money on marketing to not only introduce the product or service, but to also convince people that they really do need it.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
If you’re a typical entrepreneur with limited funds and expertise, this may not be the best method of generating business ideas.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
</span></p>
<h3><span style="color: #000000;"> <strong>The Give Them What They Want Approach</strong></span></h3>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong></strong><br />
There is a second school of thought about coming up with a business idea that in many ways is far less risky and is much less expensive.  This theory is based on the idea that you should come up with an idea that already exists.  Or, simply put, offer people a product or service that they are already buying.<br />
Wait a minute, you may say, but doesn’t that mean there is more competition?  Isn’t the market already saturated?   Um, I would reply, tell that to Netflix.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">In 1997 the originator of Netflix reportedly hit upon the idea for movie rental-by-mail when he was forced to pay $40 in fines after returning an overdue videotape of the film Apollo 13. Renting movies was not a new business “need” that needed to be satisfied.  In fact, Blockbuster had been renting movies for over 10 years, and in 1998 had served nearly 60 million people who rented more than 970 million movies and video games.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Netflix took a proven market (movie rentals) and simply enhanced the service by offering movie rentals by mail, with no late fees.  The result:  today, Netflix has over 10 million monthly subscribers while generating  an annual revenue of over 1 billion dollars.  Blockbuster, on the other hand, is struggling to stay afloat.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The point is that if you know what people are buying, a good business idea is nothing more than simply enhancing the product or service and/or marketing message.  It’s a lot less risky and more often than not, a lot less expensive.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">All of these lead you to a choice.  Ask yourself is that choice leading you <strong>towards</strong> greater health, happiness and abundance or <strong>away</strong> from it.  The choice is yours.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">Personally, I don&#8217;t understand the hype surrounding Twitter &#8211; especially when I see how internet marketers are using it. It&#8217;s like everyone is just trying to be #1 in the popularity contest of who&#8217;s got the most followers.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">People who are celebrities in their field get plenty of followers without even having to lift a finger, but the rest of us I look at with 1000s of followings and wonder, seriously, what&#8217;s the point?  Nobody is listening!</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;"> It’s amazing that someone could live so close<br />

like the Internet to connect her and I! </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Anyway,</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> There we are </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Talking about her desires, interests and about<br />
how she’s bored, confused, feels unfilled, etc… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> She’s… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Young (mid 30s) </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Attractive </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Healthy &amp; Fit</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Has a loving and adoring husband </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Yet she’s UNHAPPY. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Why? </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> I had to pry a little deeper to find out. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> At first, there was strong resistance. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Then a crack appeared</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> A little wider</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> A little more</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Then BAM!</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> She was opening up like a 4th of July Grand Finale.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The root of her unhappiness revolved around ONE thing… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> MONEY! </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> (Is that really a shocker though for you and I?) </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> The bottom line is this… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Her husband pockets $150K a yr as a V.P. of some<br />
big shot corporate entity. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> But he spends $175K a yr. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> WOW. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Now that’s a money problem! </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> In other words, he’s sending them into<br />
a bottomless pit called DEBT. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> So she wants to cover her butt. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">She wants to start making her own money. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Ok, this I can help her with. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Just when I think we’re making progress,<br />
she throws me a curve ball by saying… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">“I want to make some money, but I can’t<br />
afford to put any money into anything right<br />
now”. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Double WOW! </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Was this chick for real? </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> At this point, I’m about to get up and walk out. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> She’s not worth my time. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Not because she supposedly didn’t have any money,<br />
but because the last thing I’m going to do is sit there<br />
and try to CONVINCE her that she’s unaware of how<br />
UNAWARE she really is. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Pay close attention… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Her next move shifted everything. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> She pulls out a pack of Marlboros! </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Are you freakin serious? </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Marlboro cigarettes… they’re like $4 something a pack. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> But remember… she doesn’t have the money! </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> So I turned the conversation to them. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> “How much do you smoke”, I asked?</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Her reply was… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> “At least a carton a week”. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Hold on… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> This gets good in a second. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> So I asked her a 2nd question.. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">“How much are you spending each month on cigarettes”? </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Her reply was… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Remember… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> She THINKS she doesn’t have the money! </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> She said to me… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> “I figured it up once.  One carton every 5 days at $33.45<br />
apiece totaled something like $200.70 a month”. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Holy Cow! </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> $200.70 a month for cigarettes. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> That’s a car payment or a deposit into a savings acct. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> But no</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> She’s spending $200.70 a month on cigarettes. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Unbelievable. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> So right then and there I told her… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> “You have the money you need to get started<br />
in something.  But you can’t see the money because<br />
you’re too busy puffing away”. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> She got PISSED. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Like a wet cat. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Claws out, hissing </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> It wasn&#8217;t pretty. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> It was like I had just insulted her to the Nth degree. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Needless to say, our conversation didn’t end well. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Nor has she called or texted me back. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Oh well. No Sweat.<br />
</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> I’m not about to spend my time trying to convince<br />
someone else that they have the money. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Everyone has money. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Somewhere, somehow, if they want it bad enough</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> They’ll find the coin to pay for it. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Oh and get this… </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> As I walked out of the cafe where I met her</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> I saw her drive away in a black Mercedes. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> The only thing I could was just smile and walk away. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Knowing full well that she’s the one in trouble, not me. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"> Hopefully she finds a way out before it’s too late. </span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">Today I want to share with you some key points (in much fewer words as my friend JBudd- he does love to talk) that will create the success you are looking for.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">In order for you to have success, you must have something people want.  You must have value for them.  Why else would anyone join you?</span></p>
<ol>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">Determine Who your Prospects / Target Market is.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">Figure out what your prospects want and become what they want.</span></li>
</ol>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">An Example of value is being a great communicator. You can get on the phone and close people, etc.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Now we&#8217;ll talk about the 4 areas you create value in:</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>1. MENTAL VALUE: </strong></span>Always be expanding your base of knowledge. Learn new marketing tactics. Teach others how to fish. By moving into the role of teacher you become better at communicating as well as demonstrating your value by helping others.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">2. EMOTIONAL VALUE:</span></strong> our behavior is dictated by our emotions. Most people are unaware of their own emotions and emotional processes, yet emotions govern every aspect of our decision making, how we think, act and feel.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Key point here to consider, is this industry is based off of emotions more than anything else.</span></p>

By being authentic and not putting on false pretenses, you will increase your TRUST factor exponentially.</span></p>
